Literary translator from Scandinavian languages into Serbian in residency at the Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators in Gotland, Sweden
Bio
Jelena Vojinovic is an aspiring literary translator from Scandinavian languages into Serbian. She holds a degree in Scandinavian studies with Norwegian as the main language from the University of Belgrade. She started translating in her university days, having subtitled various Norwegian films as well as participating in the translation of a children’s novel by Maria Parr.
She is also active in a group social media project ‘Skandistih’ that is engaged in translating poetry from Scandinavian languages into Serbian. Her latest project was the translation of the novel ‘Tung tids tale’ by Olaug Nilssen.
Residency goals
During his residency at the the Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators, Jelena will be working on on the finishing touches of the translation of Olaug Nilssen’s ‘Yt etter evne, få etter behov’ (2020) into Serbian, as well as starting a new translation project of Fredrik Brattberg’s dramas.
