Literary translator from Serbian into French in residency at Krokodil in Belgrade, Serbia
Bio
Marie Van Effenterre was born in 1984 in France. In addition to literature, she graduated in anthropology and art history, and holds and MSc in ethnology and social anthropology. Since 2011, she has been translating social science texts, as well as drama and poetry, from the common language into French. She is a member of the Association of Literary Translators of France and a co-founder and member of N8 – a team of translators in the field of social sciences.
Residency goals
During her residency stay at Krokodil in Belgrade (Serbia), Marie will be working on the translation of Ivana Bodrožić: ‘Sinovi, kćeri’, Corto Literary, 2020 (‘Sons, daughters’) into French.

Feedback from resident
During my residency at Krokodil, I had the time to work and focus on only one project. We organized a translation workshop with other translators that was really interesting and it is always important that we translators hang out and share experiences.
