Literary translator from Latvian into Macedonian in residency at the International Writers’ and Translators’ House in Ventspils, Latvia
Bio
Elizabeta Lindner is a literary translator, founder and editor of the multilingual online-magazine SlovoKult :: Literatur/a, publisher at a small publishing house with the same name and founder and artistic director of the biennial of contemporary arts :: SlovoKult :: literARtour. She graduated German language and literature and Slavic Philology in Skopje (Dipl. Phil., 2001) and Regensburg (M.A., 2005).
Elizabeta had ranslated about 30 books from German into Macedonian by the authors Thomas Bernhard, Benjamin Stein, Rainer Maria Rilke, Paul Celan, Heiner Müller, H.C. Artmann, W.G. Sebald, Judith Schalansky, Christian Kracht, among others. She got several awards for translation and many grants and residencies. Her works are published in selected magazines and are performed at events and venues in the independent scene.
Residency goals
During her residency stay at the International Writers’ and Translators’ House in Ventspils (Latvia), Elizabeta selected poems by Semjon Khanin, Krista Anna Belševica and Edvīns Raups into Macedonian.

Residency materials
International Writers’ and Translators’ House in Ventspils, Latvia has published the newest Annual 2022 that includes texts written/translated in last two years by the residents of the House. Texts by 27 authors were published in six different languages.
With the support of the Translation in Motion project translations of Latvian poets into Macedonian by Elizabeta Lindner and her poetry into Latvian were published for the first time in the issue.
Feedback from resident
My residency at Ventspils enabled special concentration within a calm and creative atmosphere. I was meeting colleagues, having interesting conversations and exchanges about the work that add an an extra positivity and motivation to the working process.
